This is It

A long night and I am at the office now, but the girls are still on that flight from Hong Kong.  Still a little over four hours from Newark  I hope they were able to sleep so that the time passed more quickly for them.

I can see the plane on the flight status chart.  It has completed its Northward and Eastward treks and is now headed Southeast as it makes the long curve before heading due South to Newark.  This is about the time they would be serving breakfast.  Eastern or Western is the usual choice.  Tea or coffee.  The passengers who slept awaken to see daylight coming through the windows of the aircraft.  Those who couldn't sleep are feeling particularly sleepy now.  The food will give everyone new energy and the plane will bustle with activity for a while.  Just a few more hours, the passengers are telling themselves.  I can make it, they say.

The girls know I would be at the office now.  This time they are flying into an America that is not a strange land for them.  This time they aren't off on life's big adventure.  This time they are coming home; to the place where they left their hearts.
