Late to the Party
We are inside two weeks now on our count down. If we had followed our original plan I would have just landed in Hong Kong less than an hour ago, a couple of hours late because the flight left Newark two hours late. Assuming I could catch a bus from Hong Kong this late at night - and that is a big assumption - I wouldn't arrive in Guangzhou until well after midnight. Then it would be a further ride by taxi with the girls, who would have met me at the Garden Hotel. At the moment, though, I would still be getting my luggage and clearing immigration and customs in Hong Kong. Next up would be looking for a way to call the girls to let them know that my plane was late coming to Hong Kong, then trying to find a bus.
Our alternate plan is working out much better. I am comfortably seated at the office and not at all concerned by the flight delay and its consequences. At least both of the girls arrived on time or even a little early when they flew into Hong Kong, although either of them could have handled a delayed flight more easily. Cici was met at the airport by one of our friends from Guangzhou. Ping knows how to take a Hong Kong bus instead of having to rely on the buses that I take from the airport, which stop leaving for Guangzhou around 9 o'clock in the evening. The plane landed at 8:39 p.m. Therefore, instant problems for me had I taken the flight.
I am talking with Ping on the webcam now and she is showing me the nutcracker toy soldiers that she bought for our home. They look nice, but I am thinking that Marshall's will have a ton of them available in a couple of months.
