Busy Summer

Ping used her GPS yesterday afternoon to travel north of Houston to comfort a friend who lost her husband this week.  When she called me in the evening there was a huge thunderstorm over our house and the rain was coming down hard.  I told Ping about it because I knew it would affect her drive home, but she said the sun was shining bright where she was.  She was very proud of being able to navigate her way there with the GPS.

Ping didn't arrive home until after midnight, and after a restless night the previous night, we were both exhausted, yet sleep was still slow to come.

We talked with Cici on the webcam Monday evening and she is so ready to come home.  It was tough seeing her lonely little face, but it brightened when I reminded her that Mama will be there soon.  I have no doubt that the girls will have fun once Ping arrives.  They will swing into a whirlwind of action, even traveling to Shandong Province to visit family and friends there.

We have been working on Cici's cross-cultural good will project.  I have been coordinating matters with Cici's school while Ping has been talking to the families in China who want to send their children to study at Cici's school.   Cici has been talking with the kids involved, telling them what it is like to live in America and attend high school here.  Work on the project will accelerate when Ping arrives in China.  Even the grandparents of some families are talking with Ping.

It is going to be tough when Ping leaves Houston.  She is so busy here.  Busy at the office, busy at home, busy with things that are happening in China.  She moved her base of operations into the kitchen at the law firm, setting up her laptop at the kitchen table.  Somebody will have to take up the slack.
