Winding Down and Starting Up
The publisher of the second edition of our book is finally sending the book to print after we resolved our differences over how the back cover looks. Now the marketing team is swinging into action, hyping the moment, and trying to interest me in book signing events that they would set up with book stores. I am well past that moment in time, so I presented the publisher with a completely different marketing plan about an hour after receiving information from its marketing team. They were rather surprised, saying it usually takes authors at least a week or two before they respond to the documents and plans about how to market the book.
As Cici wrestles with the remaining seven days of school, my son has finished his finals at UT and is packing for his move to NYC for his summer internship in the investment banking world. So I am just two weeks away from having one head to New York and one head to China for the summer. That will make memorial day weekend rather bittersweet.
Cici said that she thought her debate went well yesterday but she had so much homework last night that she didn't have much time to talk about it. Her Vietnamese classmate spent the night because they prepared for the debate until 1:00 a.m. When they got dressed yesterday morning they put on dressy clothes instead of their school uniforms. This is for the debate, they told me. Then they fell asleep in the car during the drive to school.
So many changes are going on in our lives.
