A Good Night's Sleep

I must say that the i-generation, as they are called, get their kicks in ways that make no sense to me, though I suspect some of their activities go well back in time.  Tonight, many students from Cici's school will meet at midnight at a place like Dave & Busters where they can play games until 6:00 Sunday morning.  There will be some teachers and parents with them to supervise them and make sure no one leaves the premises during that 6 hour period.

Why? Is the first question that came to mind for me.  Why put your bodies through something that won't be fun once you get to the wee hours of the morning.  Then it will ruin Sunday for you because you will sleep all day.  And then you still have homework to do before the school week begins on Monday morning.

But everyone is going, Cici told me Thursday night, and they are pressuring me to go.  Is it okay if I go?  She asked me.  I didn't say anything negative about the idea.  After finding out who would be supervising the outing I agreed that she could go if she wanted to go, and I gave her the $25 dollars that she needed to take with her to school on Friday.  Last night she told me that she decided not to go, and she gave the money back to me.  I don't think I can stay awake all night, she told me, so I don't think it will be fun.

Once again her maturity won out over peer pressure.  There are only 4 weeks of school left in her sophomore year.  Final exams are coming up.  Projects are due.  I know she wants to maintain her semester gpa at its current 4.31 level.  Some things in life are more important than playing a few video games, I suspect she is thinking.  Good for her.  We will all sleep better tonight.

I don't see staying up all night and having a good time with friends as anything new, or limited to any particular generation. As for what they want to spend the time doing, well, as long as it's nothing bad, let them step to the music which they hear, however measured or far away. Or something like that...

I know Angela is a good student and a good daughter(and pending her decision of the work load she can handle), so I would still recommend some free form socializing for her. However, due to the other factors you have mentioned before, I can see why she might not want to spend an evening with some of her peers.

Oh, and the font size on this article is great! Can it be made the default font size?

Glad it was just the system! I was thinking about calling the office and seeing if you were ok, if something didn't get posted...
