Walking the Walk

Well, Ping and I will enjoy the last report card night of Cici's sophomore year this evening.  She has given us quite a ride.  All of the teachers and administrators at the school know our family, and they know what a great student we have in Cici.  When we walk through the gymnasium to meet with the teachers, it feels almost like visiting family.  Cici's grades speak for her, but it more than that.  It is her work ethic and her demeanor; her respectful attitude.  But she is no pushover.  She will stand up for her rights with anyone.

Yesterday and today I have been in and am in continuing education classes.  These days it is a lot easier to do this because of laptops and wireless internet access.  If there is an important call or other matter at the office Ping can reach me.  So can our clients around the world.  I was just communicating with one who is in Iraq, and another who is in Turkey, and still another who is in Canada.  Next up will be Colombia and China and Peru and India and the Philippines and Singapore.

The CLE classes are not far from our home, so Ping has gotten up to drive Cici to school yesterday and today.  It has made her appreciate even more the way she usually is able to sleep in before coming to the office.  Yesterday morning she tried to take a nap when she arrived at the office, but a client from Mexico called at 8:00 and ruined those plans.

Poor Cici showed me one of her eyelids this morning.  Look Papa, a mosquito bit me last night, she said.  Sure enough, her little eyelid was swollen and probably itchy.  These Texas mosquitoes have sure taken a liking to Chinese food.  The tree pollen also wrecked havoc with Ping's allergies.  They only hit me for about three days, but her allergies have lasted for more than a month.  Maybe it is good that the girls will take a break in China this summer.
