Red Eyes

I have been warned.

We have a full page article and about our law firm being published tomorrow in a new Chinese newspaper that is distributed free in Chinatown.  The newspaper is owned by a client and friend who has experience in publishing this kind of newspaper.  She and her husband moved to Houston last year.  I formed a new company for her and she has worked hard to get the business up and running.  Their first edition was published two weeks ago, so we are early to the party.

I really like what this lady has done for us.  She interviewed me and wrote an article in Chinese about me, my law firm, and our family.  She placed the article under a heading about Influential People in Houston.  It fills the top half of the page, and the bottom half of the page is the ad that we placed.  I have our website guru's busy placing the ad on our law firm website now.

Ping and Cici will take a stack of the newspapers to China this summer and it will increase our credibility with families that are interested in investor visas and other immigration or business matters.

We will be famous in Chinatown, I told Ping.  No, we don't want that, Ping replied.  Chinese people have red eyes.  I thought for a moment.  Does that mean jealousy?  Yes, Ping said.  Even if they don't know you they might say bad things about you if they get jealous.

Hmm.

What did you think of this article?

Lee, how about a name for the new paper, we read all the free papers & shop the ads, so will let the advertizer know we saw their ad in the new paper.

Harry, it is World News Digest.  I think that is what the first line of Chinese writing says below.

The second line of Chinese writing is the heading on the page where the article about us appears.  This one apparently means something like "Influential People in Houston."
