The M Word

Papa, Cici told me last evening.  Mama said the M word.  The M word, I asked?  Marshall's, Cici said with a laugh.  The girls invited me to go with them but I knew they wanted time to look at clothes and shoes without feeling hurried, so I stayed home and did more genealogical research.

By the time the girls got home, I had discovered family photos that go back to my great great great grandmother Asennath Solomon.  There was a photo of her, but no photo of her husband, Charles Solomon.  They were the parents of my great great grandfather James Kelly Brewster Solomon.  There was a family photo of him that included his son, my great grandfather Daniel Hall Solomon.  The one who ended up in Oregon.  He looked handsome as a young man.  One of his sisters in the photo had Down's syndrome.  One of the photos said that James Kelly Brewster Solomon was a farmer and an inventor, but there is nothing to indicate what he invented.

I sent an email to the lady who posted the photos and she responded.  She is one generation after me, with our family connection being James Kelly Brewster Solomon.  Her family is descended from one of his other children.  She and her mother have been doing genealogical research for years, so maybe I can learn more about my ancestors from them.

I showed the pictures to the girls when they got home but they were too excited about trying on their new clothes to pay much attention.  Then they found a big tree roach that had gotten into the house so I had to go play giant killer.
