Look at This
On Monday night I was concerned, and not at all sure that Cici could complete her History project before Friday. Researching and writing three articles on the Renaissance period sounded like a daunting task. She wrote two of them that same night. Last night she wrote not one, but three additional articles and asked me to review them. I was so proud of her work.
Tonight she showed me what she did with her articles. Look at this, Papa. Each one was printed on a separate page using different font sizes and types. They have borders and headings and illustrations. I swear they look like they were professionally prepared, but she did it during class today. If I put them on a flash drive can you print them on the color printer at the office for me tomorrow, she asked? Of course. These are so beautiful. I can't believe what you have done on this project, and I can't believe how quickly you completed it.
I hope I don't screw up my part of the project.
In the meantime, Ping has been turning out form after form for our immigration clients. She has also learned the fine art of knowing when a call is important enough to interrupt me when I am in a meeting. That skill brought us three more new clients today that we would have lost but for her snap in recognizing that I needed to speak with them immediately.
One of our legal assistants who has been doing immigration work for about 25 years loves the cases that are in immigration court. The problem, of course, is that she can't handle them alone. Only a lawyer can represent the clients in court. I have been using other lawyers to handle court cases, but it seems we are getting more and more cases that are just begging for my personal attention. Unable to resist, and believing I should appear for them myself, I have inserted myself back into the arena. There is no greater feeling of power than being a lawyer in a courtroom, in my estimation, so the pull to return is too great to resist regardless of health considerations. We know we hold the future of our clients in our hands, and we take that responsibility quite seriously.
