I Knew That
Tough day today for Cici. First of all, she said it was very cold in her room last night, but then she didn't go to bed until 2:00 this morning. Once she got under the covers I think she was fine. Ping and I don't like to breathe the heated air at night so we turn the heat off when we go to bed. Last night it dropped into the twenties, so the house got a little colder than usual. Still, it was 55 degrees inside our house when I got up this morning, so I thought it was pretty comfortable.
Then I took Cici some water to drink when I woke her up. We do this every morning. This morning I noticed that she made a face and stopped drinking quickly but I didn't ask her about it. It turned out that the water was too cold for her and gave her an upset stomach while she took her English and chemistry honors final exams today. She told me this when Ping brought her back to the office this afternoon.
But she still had a smile on her face when she came into my office. There were 150 questions on the English final exam, she told me. I knew all of the answers. But I don't know how well I did on the essay question, she said. It took me nearly half an hour just to read and understand it. I wrote a whole page, but I am not sure if I answered the question or not. Well, my guess is that if she got all or almost all of the objective questions correct, she should still earn a decent grade on the final exam.
What about your chemistry final, I asked her. I answered all those questions too, she told me. I thought the final exam was easier than the tests we took during the semester. She was so concerned about that test. I know that is why she studied until 2:00 this morning. She was so tired when I woke her up. Can you ask Mama to make some coffee for me? she asked. She never drinks coffee in the morning. I don't think I can stay awake without coffee, she told me.
Well, I think the cold air that hit her in the face when she came out the door into the garage worked as well or better than the coffee. Whatever it was, she was in high spirits and not tired at all when she came into my office this afternoon. I helped her set up her new laptop to use on the wireless network in the office. Then she stayed in my office, working on the other side of my partner's desk. When clients arrived, I met with them in one of the conference rooms so that Cici could stay in my office.
Not that she is spoiled or anything.
