Change of Perspective
Ping had me laughing last night when she was asking me why I have a meeting scheduled for 9:00 at the office this morning. I usually schedule the first meeting for 10:00, which gives me time to get some work done first thing each morning. It also gives Ping the latitude of sleeping in and having some leisure time before she comes to the office.
Well, the client wanted to meet earlier, I told Ping. I tried to set the meeting for 10:00 but the client wanted to meet at 9:00. I could see that she still wasn't convinced that it was a good idea. I decided to play my hole card. This client is also bringing $10,000 with him, I told Ping. Is it for our law firm? she asked. Yes.
There was an immediate change in Ping's perspective about a 9:00 meeting. I need to be there to prepare some tea for this client, she told me. Maybe I should also bring some of the pumpkin bread that I baked, she added.
