Big Day Tomorrow
We will be up before 6:00 a.m. tomorrow so we can be sure to arrive on time for our appointment with the USCIS. Cici will receive her Certificate of Citizenship, so it is a big day for her. Ping and I will be with her in a supporting role.
Now you may be thinking I haven't talked about my blood pressure recently for a reason. You are right. There is nothing new and exciting to report. I have come to expect readings like the 111/82 that I just recorded, but I haven't forgotten how this isn't supposed to be possible. Ping feeds me a steady diet of brown rice, bean soup, and fresh Chinese vegetables. I usually eat about a pint of bean soup into which I add almost as much brown rice and other grains, like barley -- for breakfast. I top it off with an apple.
Then Ping warms and serves a large plate of sauteed Chinese vegetables for lunch, usually with a small fish filet. Before she leaves to pick Cici up at school, she heats and serves a good sized plate of corn, so about half of what I eat each day are grains. I drink several very large cups of hot tea every day as well, with no sweetener.
I feel like I eat like a pig, yet I have continued to lose weight a little at a time. I am down within 5 pounds of my lowest weight in 25 years, but this time the girls have been with me as the weight changed, so they haven't given me a hard time about it like they did two years ago.
I met a lovely Chinese lady today at the office. Ping and I helped her obtain her visa and come to America. She was so grateful and very expressive. She even insisted on hugging me; something that is very unusual for a Chinese woman. Now we will help her adjust her status and obtain her green card. She is so happy to have Ping as a friend.
Ping met another one of our Chinese clients today as well. I have formed a company for her and have been helping her with all the business issues. I knew that she and Ping would become friends because their personalities are much the same. Sure enough, when we finished the business meeting today, the client told me that she and Ping were going to a conference room for some girl talk. They made plans for us to spend time with the client and her husband in their new home on Christmas eve.
Still another client who was in our offices today is a rather well known opera singer who was born in Houston but has lived abroad, mostly in Vienna, for a good part of her life. She is especially well known in Japan, but also in Europe. She was accompanied by her fiancee, who is a distinguished gentleman from England.
All three of these ladies are quite beautiful, but all three of them kept talking about Ping's beauty. Ping just blushes and gives her winning smile and says thank you very much.
We also had a client from India in our offices today. Next week one of our clients who just arrived from England will visit our offices. I have promised him a cup of tea in our tea room. I think I need to tell Ping about serving his tea with some milk or cream. Otherwise he will be stuck with the coffeemate, and I don't think that will work very well for him.
Ping is meeting clients from all over the world, and winning each of their hearts in turn with her charming personality, beautiful smile, and unsolicited cups of hot tea. I am lucky to have her with me in the law firm.

Congrats CiCi on your Certificate of Citizenship. I'm sure that you are well loved and happy in your Papa's home, after all he is very proud of you and thinks the world of you.

Thanks Andrew. I will pass your comments along to her. She did her best to convince me to let her stay out of school all day to celebrate, but in a teasing kind of way.
