Another Chinese Connection

This morning I showed Ping another interesting bit of family history.  My third generation ancestor left America with his wife in the 1700's.  Seven of their twelve children were born in Chongqing, China between 1794 and 1810.  But it was one of his five children who were born in America who is my ancestor.  I wonder whether those who were born in China came back speaking Chinese.  I also wonder what took the family to China to live for so many years.

Cici doesn't know this new development yet, as she is still sleeping.  I picked her up at school around midnight last night when the band returned from the marching band competition in Dallas.  She and I didn't go to bed until around 2:00 a.m., but she will be up soon because she won't want to miss lunch with Ping and me at Tokyo One.  She and Ping love to eat at this restaurant, so even though it isn't on my list of favorite places to eat, I go there with them when they want to eat there.  This is Ping's choice for her birthday lunch today.

The time change has given Cici an extra hour of sleep, so it is about time to awaken her for lunch.  I hope this marching band madness is about over for the year.
