Jazz It Up

Our multi-talented daughter will debut as a member of the school jazz band on Sunday.  This small group of students will provide the background music at two picnics, so it will be about a six hour gig.  The group also practices each Monday from the time classes are dismissed until 6:00 p.m.  We are happy to see that Cici has the confidence and desire to participate in this extracurricular activity.  I guess this means I will have to be more open minded about one of my least favorite genres of music. Next summer Cici wants to learn to play the drums while she is in China, she told me yesterday, so she wants to expand on her musical abilities.

I ordered a convection/broiler toaster oven from Costco yesterday for the kitchen in our new office space.  If the girls like it, we should order another one for our home, I suggested.  Their initial reaction was that we can just use the oven, but after we talked about energy consumption related to using the oven, they are more open minded about this alternative.  I bet lunches at the office will become a lot more interesting once we have the kitchen.  I bet the same would be true of breakfasts at home if we get one for using here.

At the moment, though, it is wake up time.  Here is your water, Cici.  I already drank some, she responded sleepily.  You did?  Who brought it to you?  I will drink some, she told me as she opened her eyes and sat up.  She was dreaming about yesterday morning when Ping took water to her when she woke her up.  Time for my third wake-up trip, which is usually the successful one.

    Ice cubes work wonders! LOL!

I started listening to a jazz station while driving just because I'm tired of the bs on the other stations with idiot deejays and tunes I've heard for thirty plus years. Never cared for some types of jazz, especially some of the impromptu/improvisational stuff that just sounds like random noise(seriously - I can plink on a piano just as well! ), but most of the stuff on this station isn't too bad. I still don't like Sarah Vaughn though, and I doubt I'll ever care for those that imitate her style.
