Double Wipeout
Yes, I know, I am late this morning. I resisted the urge to get out of bed at 3:00 a.m. by telling myself it is a holiday weekend. I got up at 6:30 and already feel like I am running behind, but I am going to drink coffee and read the newspaper anyway.
Yesterday morning I didn't have the heart to awaken Ping, so I left her sleeping. She woke up just as Cici and I were about to leave for school. I told her to go back to sleep and come to the office later in her car. She slept for another two hours and arrived at the office feeling rejuvenated. We switched roles last night. Ping drove to pick Cici and her classmate up after the football game, and I went to sleep early. Now I feel rejuvenated.
Burning the candle at both ends wiped both Ping and me out. Poor Cici doesn't have anyone to switch out with, so I bet she sleeps a lot this weekend. I would have been there for Cici last night, but the band wasn't ready for prime time and wouldn't be marching at half time, so I didn't feel too guilty about not going. One thing I keep reminding myself is that these days will be gone all too soon, so we need to enjoy them while they are here.
I need to keep moving this morning because I need to be at the bank and the post office before they close, and still make a client meeting at 10:00. If I play my cards right, maybe I will arrive back at home just as the girls are waking up, and I can take them to eat dim sum. I need to balance work with other things, and one of those things is that the new publisher is pressing me for my comments on the draft they sent to me almost two weeks ago. But I can work on the book at home, so I will leave it until later in the weekend.
