Showered With Affection
Ping returned from China with many photos of our new home in Guangzhou. It really looks great, and it is hard to believe that she designed and built it from bare walls in just two months.
I was impressed with every room, but I was both surprised and impressed when Ping showed me the shower that she built in our bathroom. It looks like it is probably 2-3 times larger than the shower in our bathroom here. I built it this large for you, she told me. Then I put this large shower head up high on the wall for you, she showed me, and I put the smaller shower head lower on the wall for Cici and me.
This morning Ping and I took a fresh look at the new office space we have been considering. We came up with a completely new way for it to be designed, and building management agreed with our design. It only took us about 15 minutes to come up with a design concept that eliminated all the sharp angles that had been bothering Ping, yet it kept our entrance and reception area where I wanted them to be. We make a pretty good team.
Ping ended up with an even larger reception area for her to manage, and I got to keep the larger office that I had in mind for myself. She got the full sized kitchen that she wanted, and I got the Chinese showcase conference room that I wanted, positioned between two other conference rooms. She agreed with my selection of the wood for the conference room floor, and she has the choice of what carpet to put in the rest of the office space. I got the file room and administrative office space that I wanted, and she got the door that she wanted for that space.
Oh yes, one more agreement was reached. Our leather sofa and chair will come from our home to our office to be part of the Chinese showcase conference room that I have in mind. Ping will select new furniture for our living room that will fit her desire for a more firm place to sit while reading or watching TV. I learned that Ping had an ulterior motive when we agreed on this change. When we bring the sofa to the office, she said, you will have a place to take a nap.
