The Deeds are Done
Ping has only been back for a few days, yet we have seen some remarkable changes in our lives. The most important change, of course, is in our family. Next, Ping has once again transformed our home, inside and out. It is amazing to me what her eyes can see and her mind can improve. Today she will take her act to the office and do the same thing there. Just from looking at and studying the floor plan of the new office space, she has begun devising a different way of looking at the space.
I am sitting in our home office this morning in an uncluttered environment. The tangle of wires around and beneath my computer is gone, replaced by nothing but wireless signals that come from the new AT&T U-Verse router that sits on top of our TV in the living room. The girls use their laptops wherever they please in this wireless environment, at speeds easily four times faster than what we had here previously. I used the time that we were waiting for the installation to be completed yesterday to get everything filed away, so that part of the clutter is also gone.
The girls have been laughing at how much time I spent researching new cars in an effort to identify those which might be good options for Ping. On Sunday we spent several hours looking at Toyota vehicles, with the Camry rising to the top of Ping's list there. That was a surprise, because both she and Cici had told me that Ping didn't want to get a sedan this time. More than anything, she had her eye on the Honda CRV, so yesterday late afternoon I took her to the Honda dealer where I had bought the Pilot.
I followed the same pattern that had worked when I bought the Pilot. I emailed the Internet Sales Manager, who turned out to be the same person I had dealt with when I bought the Pilot. After seeing how Ping reacted to the Camry, I arranged for the dealer to have an Accord available for her to consider. They had a color that they call basque red pearl. I really liked the way it looked on the computer screen, so I asked them to have that color vehicle available. Ping fell in love with it the minute she saw it. When we drove it, she loved it even more, so it is sitting in our garage with our names on the title.
Cici couldn't believe we came home with a new car. She ran to the garage to sit in it and look at it, but homework was calling loudly and we spent the balance of the evening working on it. I told her that we will give her a ride to school in the Accord today so that she can also enjoy it.
As for me, I used the remote before I went to bed, exploring the many new channels that are available to us now. Cici was excited about the six Chinese channels, but she has no time during the week to watch TV. Then Ping and I popped out of bed at 4:30 this morning to start a new day.
