School Bus Anyone?
Last night, shortly after I went to bed, Cici bounced into my bedroom calling Papa, Papa! She sounded excited. What is it, Cici? Actually I said the Chinese word that sounds like "Gamma," but I am not sure how to spell it. The "a's" in the word are pronounced like "ah." I had heard Cici say that word frequently when Ping called her name, and Ping and Cici took great delight when I used it spontaneously one day when Ping called me from the kitchen. Since then, I always use that word when the girls call me.
But back to the story of last night. A Vietnamese girl who is a classmate of Cici's had just called. She and I know each other because she is one of the girls who I took to an outing at the zoo with Cici last spring. She has also been to our home to visit. She and Cici are good friends, and she had called to ask if she could ride to school with us each day if her aunt, which whom she lives, brought her to our home each morning. What do you think, Papa? I don't have a problem with it, I said, but she isn't a member of the band. Does she really want to ride with us to school and arrive around 6:30 a.m. three days a week? Oh, I forgot about that, Cici replied. Let me talk with her about that.
I didn't hear anything further about it last night, but at this rate, I am thinking we might need a school bus so we can drive Cici and her classmates to school.

You might be on to something, Michael.
Cici has mixed emotions about this development. Papa, she said, I was going to put a blanket and pillow in the back seat of our car so I could sleep on the way to school. Now I can't do that. But you can talk with your friend, I told her. Since she doesn't speak Chinese and you don't speak Vietnamese, the two of you can practice your English each day.

Not that you would do this( or anyone with any brains... ), but something I saw on Saturday was rather crazy. I was actually at the mall, and when I was leaving I saw a bunch of girls getting out of a compact car. As I drove by them, I watched as three climbed out of the trunk!

Were we really that young and dumb once?
I am eating a McFlurry. I hadn't intended to eat one, but the guy at McDonald's misunderstood our order at the drive through and we ended up with two of them instead of just the one we ordered. This was one more little treat for Cici before her summer vacation ends.
