New Chinese Name
Ah Niu is the Chinese name that Ping's cousin's husband has given me, Ping told me tonight. They have been such a help to us with our new home. Now that we are all moved in, Ping is taking them to the train station today so they can return to their home in Shandong Province. Then she has a lot of unpacking and organizing to do.
I broke the news to her about moving our offices down the hall and she took it in stride. I described everything to her and she gave me the green light to get things started. They can finish the build-out and make the space the way I want it by the time Ping gets back in town a week from Friday. Then she can select the new carpet for the floors. She wants the same color paint on the walls that we have in our offices now, so that decision was easy.
I also broke the news about changing to AT&T Uverse for our home. It is supposed to give us significantly faster speeds for our internet service, and I added the Mandarin package to the TV channels. The installation won't happen until the Monday after she gets back to Houston, so we will both see it at the same time. Don't tell Cici about the Chinese channels, she told me. Hmmm.
Now if we can just make a decision quickly on a new car for her when she gets here. I decided to use the purchase of the car as a way to build a credit history for her. Instead of paying all cash, we will finance five thousand dollars with the credit union in her name with me as the guarantor, and set it up for automatic payments from our checking account. I think the Honda CRV is probably the front runner, but it ain't over 'til it's over.
Cici is bustling around getting everything ready for the first day of school. We have almost survived until Ping returns.
