What a Shame
Ping just loves it. The music, the story, the thrill of Phantom. We have this movie on DVD in China and in America. As luck would have it, the play returned to Houston while Ping is in China. That is a shame. Going to see Phantom of the Opera on stage would have been the perfect way to introduce Ping to the arts in Houston.
Cici's appetite has returned with a vengeance. She is much more comfortable in her braces now, and she is careful with what she eats, so things are working fine for her. When someone asks her how long she will wear the braces, she doesn't leave out the possible shorter part of the time frame in her answer. Nine to twelve months, she responds. Privately, however, she asks me if I think she might be finished with the braces in nine months.
Our day count dropped to Ping's age today. As much as we want the days to pass quickly, we both have pressure to wish they were longer. Ping is racing against the clock to finish our new home. I am racing the clock on a number of things, with the biggest deadline as always being the extended tax deadline. Even Cici has a little race going against the clock as she struggles with the odd English words in Pudd'n Head Wilson.
Cici, I asked on Saturday as we pulled into our neighborhood. You have been here more than a year now. Does this feel like home to you when we drive into our neighborhood? She smiled and shook her head yes. This is home, Papa. Of course for both of us, it is home with a very important missing element. We have made it a home without Ping, but we sure want her back here with us.
