And She is Sleeping

Cici was so good this today.  She got up at 7:15 so I could go to the office.  Her job was to stand a vigilant watch for a delivery from UPS.

Papa, she said when she called me around 11:15.  They haven't come yet.  Just keep watching and listening, I told her.  I was actually in a meeting with clients when she called me on my cell phone, but I never ignore a call from her.  This is my daughter, I told my clients.  I need to take this call.

The delivery arrived nearly 11 hours after Cici started to watch for it, and I am the one who answered the door.  I had peeked and Cici was sleeping around 5:30, but I know she was tired.  I came home early because I was concerned about her.  She told me when I came home that she had read many pages of Pudd'n Head Wilson today.  How can you ask for more than that?

Ping and I talked briefly on the Internet this morning, but she asked me to call her this evening (Houston time).  She was so tired, but also very appreciative.  She had talked briefly with Cici, who told her that she was eating some watermelon for breakfast.

But you know what?  Our beautiful daughter is sleeping so peacefully now.  She showed me her hair and her bangs before she went to sleep.  Should I cut my bangs, Papa?  She asked.  She is so proud of how long her hair has grown.  Let's go get your hair styled, I suggested.  I want to wait and have it styled in China next summer, she replied.  Hmm, Ping might have something to say about that when she gets home.

No reason not to get it styled this summer!

Also, for future reference, unless morning delivery is specified, if it's not a business delivery, it won't be delivered until after the business rounds are made. So residential deliveries end up being in the afternoon. UPS drivers aren't allowed the discretion of when to deliver what anymore, as their routes are set up by computer and the vans are tracked and timed.

I agree, Smitty.  I suspect that when Ping gets back the girls will visit a beauty salon and get Cici's hair styled.  It has grown a lot, and unless she brushes her bangs to the sides of her head, they fall below her eyes.
