We Could all Learn from This

No meat, Papa, Cici said to me this evening.

In fact, she often says this to me.  It isn't that she doesn't like meat; she just has an internal regulator that says enough is enough.  Ping is the same way, and I have learned from both of my girls to eat only small amounts of meat.  This is the Chinese way, and it is a healthy way to live.  I won't argue the statistics, as anyone can look at them and draw their own conclusions.

So how are we doing after six days without the beautiful Ping?  Fine, but we sure miss her.  I cook now.  Cici cleans the dishes.  I feed our fish and water the plants and flowers.  Cici takes care of the laundry and our home.  I do the shopping, but Cici tells me what not to buy.  Don't buy anything in cans, Papa.  Don't buy ice cream or cake or cookies.  But buy lots of small watermelons.

Thanks to all of you who have called or written to me.  Thanks to all of you who post your comments on this blog.  You are helping us get through the summer without Ping.

It will be a long hot summer here in Houston. It has only just begun. I am sure that you and your daughter will tough it out but not having Ping around is like missing your front tooth - not knowing when to smile or cry. Its a good thing you have each other though.
