What a Difference a Year Makes
Exactly a year ago today, we were in Guangzhou making final preparations for the interview at the Consulate. And ironically, our May 19 interview date coincides with our May 19 book signing event, exactly one year apart. We didn't plan it this way. We didn't choose either date. Which makes it all the more interesting that it happened.
What will we wear to the book signing, the girls wanted to know last evening. Put away the fancy clothes, I told Ping. Just be yourself. Cici, just wear the uniform that you wear to school that day. We have to go straight from school the The Tasting Room anyway. I want anyone who comes to the event to see the girls as I see them every day.
We are looking at braces for Cici these days. The idea is to get them put on early this summer and hope that they can come off before summer next year when the plan is for her to return to China for a visit. But first we must finish this week of school, and final exams next week. And say goodbye to Ping.
So will we see you at the booksigning event tomorrow evening?

I wish I could be there!
