Summer Time
We have learned that our home will be the site of a Chinese/Korean/American meeting this weekend. Cici's Chinese classmate, and one of her Korean classmates, will spend the night with us tomorrow night. Maybe I should suggest that she also invite her Vietnamese classmate. Cici fills the American part of this get together.
Ping and I are glad to see that Cici's friends want to be with her. This Korean classmate has been wanting to come spend the night with her for some time now. This Chinese classmate will be going to China for the summer next week, and will return in the fall to attend the University of Texas in San Antonio.
In less than two weeks Ping will leave Cici and me to fend for ourselves for a while. We have important things for her to take care of in China. But Cici and I will be able to see her and talk to her daily through the Internet, so maybe we can make it until she returns. One of the first things I want to do this summer is get Cici started reading the books that she will be required to read for English class. This will help the time pass quickly, and before we know it summer will be over and she will be back in school.
It has been interesting to see what Ping has been purchasing to take to China as gifts for family and friends. She bought many boxes of tea in different flavors so that they can experience the convenience of tea bags and the flavors that are used in American tea. She learned, as did I, that finding something that is American made to take to China as gifts is not very easy. I never thought of tea, but I think it is a great idea. One thing that always goes with us to China are boxes of Hershey's chocolate bars, so Ping also has those ready to pack.
We can't just ignore Ping's flower gardens while she is gone, so Cici and I will have to come up with a way to take care of them. We will also need to remember to feed our Betta, who we call Infinity. Well, I call him that. The name has many more syllables when Ping tries to say it. It sounds more like Defenenenity when she says it. He will miss her, because she talks to him when she feeds him.
So summer time is looming, but it will be a busy time for us. Cici will fill Ping's role here at the office, study for her driver's test, take care of her summer reading assignments, and take care of our home in Ping's absence. I will use the time, in part, to continue Discovering Angela.
