Almost There
Well it seems like a perfectly good day to have a baby.
Of course this baby will be a little larger than most, measuring out at 5'7" and weighing about 135. Yesterday she seemed pretty happy. We took Ping to lunch for Mother's Day, and then drove to one of her new friend's houses so Ping can find the way herself next time. On the way, Cici was singing a Chinese song in a high pitched voice. That is the Chinese National Song, Ping told me. Part of the words are, "Stand Up, Stand Up, unless you want to be a servant."
What is the American song, she asked? I sang the opening words and Cici took it from there. She doesn't know the words, but she knows the melody quite well since the band plays the song at football games.
When we came back home, Cici and I started finishing up her biology project related to the trip to the zoo. Ping said she wanted to go out for two hours. I will be back by 5:00 she told us. At 6:00 I told Cici that Mama was late, but I was betting I knew where she was. Cici laughed because she also knew. Ping got home just past 7:00 with her hands full of shopping bags. I had a great Mother's Day, she said. Marshall's had many nice things today. She started showing them to us, and she had made some great choices. The receipt was on my desk this morning. $132.03. She really did make some great buys.
So we will be downtown by about 7:30 this morning so we can park and walk to the Family Law Center. The girls have never been in court in America, perhaps not in China either, but this won't be a good example. The Family Law Courts are often more like a circus than a court, but hopefully we can get our business done and be out of there before the morning wears away. At the moment, the girls are squeezing out the last few moments of sleep this morning. Just a few more hours ...
