Discovering Angela
When I was writing No Price Too Great, I posted the story as it unfolded so that readers could follow its creation. I don't intend to do that with Discovering Angela, but posting selected portions might help build interest in the story. Here is a portion of the Prologue:
The head of the beautiful baby girl was pushed deep into the cold water. A slight struggle for life in the hands of the old woman, a few bubbles of air, and she was gone.
Not a tear was shed by the baby's grandmother or her mother as they wrapped the lifeless body in a cheap cloth and prepared to bury it under a nearby tree. This wasn't the first time they had been through this. They accepted it as just another part of life. Maybe the next time the mother would have a baby boy.
Ping had listened to the story with a heavy heart. She had read about or heard similar stories all too often. It hurt her each time she heard about or read a story like this. She thought of these stories now. No one will do this to my baby girl, she vowed. I will start my own family. I don't have to become part of my husband's family in order to have a place in this world, she told herself. I will find a way. I will! I will, she silently promised the sleeping baby.
Holding the baby girl close, Ping rocked her body slightly, humming a litle song. Ping ...

Very good beginning Lee but, that wasn't fair to stop it so short

Ahh but Michael, this time I have a Publisher who would shoot me if I give away the story.
But we can still have some fun. Part of the fun for me has been learning how to use the functions on this blog. One thing that I don't like is that it won't let me cut and paste things from Word into a blog window. Then I end up with typos if I don't watch especially closely, because it doesn't seem to accept what I type as quickly as I type, it so it drops a letter here and there. I see a typo in the last line of this blog thread and I think the only way to correct it is to delete the post and start over, which I don't intend to do. Maybe everyone will understand.
